Kalaram Temple – Panchavati, Nashik

Kalaram Temple, located in the sacred Panchavati area of Nashik, Maharashtra, is a revered Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Rama. The temple gets its name from the striking black idol of Rama ("Kala" meaning black and "Ram" meaning Lord Rama). The sanctum also houses the idols of Goddess Sita and Lord Lakshmana. Every day, thousands of devotees visit this spiritual landmark.
A Glimpse into History
Believed to have ancient roots dating back to the Rashtrakuta era (7th–11th century), the current temple was rebuilt in the 1700s by Sardar Rangarao Odhekar. As per legend, Odhekar dreamt of a black idol submerged in the Godavari River. On retrieving it, he established the temple as per divine guidance. A statue of Sardar Odhekar still stands in the temple to honor his devotion.
According to the Ramayana, Lord Rama spent part of his exile in Panchavati, making this location deeply significant in Hindu mythology.

Trimbakeshwar Temple

Trimbakeshwar Temple is a revered Hindu shrine located in Trimbak, near Nashik, Maharashtra. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, it is one of the twelve sacred Jyotirlingas in India. The temple is especially unique for its three-faced linga, representing the divine trinity — Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva.
Nestled at the foot of Brahmagiri Hill, the temple marks the origin of the holy Godavari River at the sacred pond called Kushavarta. Built from black stone in the 18th century by Peshwa Balaji Bajirao, the temple is known for its exquisite architecture and spiritual ambiance.
